IT security is increasingly playing a greater role as a distinguishing feature for products and services. “The future of business is digital and it will only work if communication and production are carried out securely. We need solutions that are particularly suited for small and medium-sized enterprises,” explained Federal Secretary of Education Johanna Wanka during her visit to Darmstadt’s “Security Valley” in August 2015, who highlighted the importance of IT security for Industry 4.0.

The results of research conducted at ATHENE flow into the areas of automobile manufacturing, electronics, machine building, and many more. ATHENE researchers are welcomed presenters at workshops and events held by companies and industry associations. ATHENE also presents itself through its participating institutions at trade fairs such as Hannover Messe, Embedded World and it-sa.


KMU AWARE - Awareness im Mittelstand

The SECUSO research group, which is based at TU Darmstadt, is involved in the KMU AWARE project. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs; in German: KMU) face new and emerging challenges in protecting themselves against digital attacks.
