Biography

Studied law in Giessen and Utrecht from 1990 to 1995. 1995: First State Law Examination. 1995–1996: Research assistant at the University of Giessen. 1996–1999: completed legal clerkship at the Regional Court of Limburg an der Lahn. 1999: Second State Law Examination. 1999–2000: Lawyer at BASF AG. 2000: became a judge at the Regional Court of Limburg an der Lahn. 2001: Head of Division at the Hessian Ministry of Justice. 2002: Appointed judge for life. 2004: Judge at the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main. 2005–2007: Office Manager to the Hessian Minister of Justice. 2007–2012: Head of Department at the Hessian Ministry of Justice and Permanent Representative of the State Secretary. 2012–2022: President of the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main. Since 2016: Honorary Professor at EBS University of Business and Law, Wiesbaden. 2017–2022: President of the State Court of Hesse.
Member of the CDU since 2006. Deputy member of the CDU Federal Party Court since 2014.
Minister of Justice of Hesse from 31 May 2022 to 18 January 2024 and Minister of the Interior, Security and Homeland Protection of Hesse since that date.
Deputy member of the Bundesrat since 31 May 2022.
