The  Hessian ministry of Interior plans to intensify their support for research in the field of Cybersecurity. With Prof. Michael Waidner (Fraunhofer SIT), Prof. Dieter Fellner (Fraunhofer IGD), Prof. Peter Buxmann (CYSEC [at] TU Darmstadt) and Prof. Michael Massoth (University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt) there are IT security experts from all four CRISP partners in their function as consultants for the Hessian state government.

“It is our goal to develop innovative products which should contribute to more data security in the net by means of a close cooperation with our scientific location.”, said the Hessian minister of interior Peter Beuth on the occaison of a meeting with representatives of  the four CRISP partner institutions in the state capital.
“We want to make the lives of data criminals as hard as possible at all levels”, underlined the minister. A year ago the state has made available 2,5 Millionen Euro for the “Local Service Center Cybersecurity”.
At the moment a new competence team is being built at the state police headquarters which identifies cybersecurity measures, in order to develop concreate recommendations for acting in the fight against data theft and virtual crimes and  to  better protect the own IT technology from attacks. “Virtual crimes must have real consequences which is why we are strengthening the Hessian police with an additional 120 job poitions in the area of Cyber crime/Organized Crime this year”, said Peter Beuth.Even the workfield “Digitaler Wirtschaftsschutz” in the Landesamt for Verfassungsschutz (LfV) is to be expanded. The enormous speed of the further development of digital technologies and the changing methods of crime commiting by the criminals make innovative security authorities necessary. Das Hessian ministry for interior and sports is supporting six projects of the Agenda Cyber-Sicherheit@Hessen with circa 1,2 Millionen Euro at the moment.
