New banking Trojan identified
EC SPRIDE researchers warn of download app
Experts of the EC SPRIDE Secure Software Engineering Group together with McAfee Research Lab have identified a new threat campaign attempting to exploit the media frenzy surrounding the release of the movie "The Interview". The malware claims to download a copy of the film but instead downloads a banking Trojan.
It tries to tap login details for online banking accounts. Currently the attack targets smartphones and account holders of prominent local banks in South Korea as well as one international bank. The Korea Internet & Security Agency has been informed by McAfee. Together with the researchers they are working on a solution to stop the distribution and prevent further infections of this campaign.
