Biography

As director of the Ministry of Cybersecurity, Florian Schütz is responsible for the implementation of Switzerland's National Cyberstrategy (NCS) and leading the ministry. He acts as a point of contact for the cantons, the business community, the academic sector and the general public on matters relating to cybersecurity.
Florian Schütz was appointed Federal Delegate for Cyber Security by the Federal Council on 14 June 2019. In this role, he was responsible for establishing the National Centre for Cyber Security and led it from 1 July 2020 until the end of 2023. In 2024, the National Centre for Cybersecurity was transferred to what is now the Federal Office for Cybersecurity. Florian Schütz holds a Master of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Advanced Studies in Security Policy and Crisis Management from ETH Zurich, and has more than 10 years’ management experience in the field of IT security in the private sector.
Since 1 January 2022, Florian Schütz has also chaired the OECD Working Party on Digital Security (WPDS). This enables Switzerland to make a significant contribution to enhancing security in the global digital space. This international engagement is another key pillar in the implementation of the NCS.
