New National Research Center for Applied Cyber­security in Darmstadt

The three institutions involved in CRISP, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Technische Universität Darmstadt and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, agreed to make CRISP a permanent National Research Center for Applied Cyber­security. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Hessen State Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts (HMWK) support and promote the new center.

Prof. Johannes Buchmann becomes a member of the Society´s Milner Award Committee

The Royal Society Milner Award supported by Microsoft Research, was created by Council in 2010 and is given annually for outstanding achievements in computer science by a European researcher.  Prof. Johannes Buchmann´s, CYSEC [at] TU Darmstadt, outstanding scientific achievements on the field of cryptographie and IT-Security are honored with the conclusion in the committee.

Magazine about 20 years Wissen­schafts­stadt Darmstadt

Twenty years ago the Hessian State Government awarded Darmstadt the official title „Wissen¬schafts¬stadt“. With this they honored the extensive scientific life in Darmstadt, the large variety of well-known scientific institutions and ultimately how much research and doctrine are shaping the city's everyday life. An insight into the scientific activities in Darmstadt is provided in the now published magazine "20 Jahre Wissen¬schafts¬stadt Darmstadt". The Cyber­security research takes on a leading role.

Exchange of Cyber­security and Data Privacy

Consul General James W. Herman visited Fraunhofer SIT to enquire about the excellent research results of Fraunhofer SIT and CRISP. A few weeks ago a "Lunchon" was held at the US Consultate in Frankfurt on the topic of Cyber­security, where Prof. Michael Waidner attended as one of about 15 representatives of economy and authorities from the greater area Frankfurt.

International scientists of It-Security met in Darmstadt to exchange research results about the reserach initiative Reliably Secure Software Systems (RS³) funded by Deutschen Forschungs­gemeinschaft with twelve million Euro and to lay the foundation for the future of IT-Security.

New CARS Lab

Intel and leading European universities in the field of cybersecurity and privacy will open a new initiative for “Collaborative Autonomous & Resilient Systems” (CARS) to tackle security, privacy, and functional safety challenges of autonomous systems that may collaborate with each other – examples are drones, self-driving vehicles, or industrial automation systems. CRISP-researcher Prof. Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi, CYSEC [at] TU Darmstadt is director of CARS Lab at TU Darmstadt.
