Your startup in one sentence?

LocateRisk ensures speed and control in the cybersecurity process, monitors the protection of IT infrastructures, and facilitates cyber risk management in the supply chain with automated IT and compliance checks of business partners.

 

How did your business idea come about?

The motivation for founding LocateRisk was to bridge the gap between the ever-changing cybersecurity landscape and companies' ability to protect themselves effectively against it. We believe that every company, regardless of its size, should have the technologies to measure, compare, and optimize its IT security.

 

How big is your team, who is in it, and how did you find each other?

We are a team of just under 20 employees, including permanent staff and working students in the areas of development, consulting, sales, partner management, communications, and office management. We recruit through job boards and referrals.

 

Who benefits from your product/solution and why?

LocateRisk benefits private and public organizations as well as their customers and third-party companies in the supply chain. Companies use automated risk analyses and digitized workflows to make their IT security processes more effective and efficient. This improves preventive protection against cyberattacks and helps to secure their value creation, business continuity, and competitiveness.

 

What are your next steps?

We are currently receiving funding from the Distr@l program of the state of Hesse, which enables us to develop new technologies. In addition, we are focusing on building an inter­national partner network.

In five years, we see LocateRisk as the benchmark for cybersecurity in Germany and perhaps even in Europe. Our goal is to maximize awareness of cybersecurity and help companies optimally protect their digital assets.

 

Why are you convinced that you will be successful?

Our founding philosophy sets us apart from others—we believe in the advantage of control and the principle of continuous improvement in IT security. With a high degree of automation and digitization, we make work easier for everyone involved in the IT security and testing process—companies, suppliers, and auditors. This is unique in the European market.

 

What have been your biggest successes and hurdles/low points so far?

The biggest challenge was gaining a foothold in a market as crowded and competitive as cybersecurity. But we learned that with an effective product, a precise focus on customer needs, and a commitment to creating as much value as possible every day, we could be successful. Our greatest success: the trust of over 800 customers, including KRITIS operators, cities, and renowned inter­national companies.
