ATHENE at the 'Nationale Konferenz IT-Sicher­heits­forschung 2025'

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is hosting the 'Nationale Konferenz IT-Sicher­heits­forschung' in Berlin from March 17 to 19, 2025, with the theme “Cyber­security and Democracy”. The conference will address key challenges such as AI-based disinformation, human-centered IT security, and quantum cryptography, bringing together leading experts from science, business, politics, and civil society. ATHENE will be represented in various program items.

In his keynote speech, ATHENE Director Prof. Michael Waidner will talk about the status quo of German IT security research, while Prof. Martin Steinebach will contribute his expertise to the spotlight discussion on detecting and countering disinformation. Dr. Michael Kreutzer will moderate the track “Data Protection & Data Use” with a focus on resilient and secure science systems; Prof. Haya Schulmann is one of the participants in this discussion round.
The parallel exhibition will showcase the projects “DemoQuanDT – Application-oriented demonstration of quantum communication in Germany” (Prof. Marc Fischlin) and “FINESSE – Uniform protection systems for vehicles and infrastructure in road and rail transport” (Dr. Thorsten Henkel), both of which are supported by ATHENE scientists. The TRUSTnet project, which is also being carried out with ATHENE participation, will be represented at the poster sessions.
