ATHENE at DMEA 2025

April 08 – 10, 2025

Researchers at Fraunhofer IGD are working on the ATHENE project with the aim of driving forward digitalisation in the healthcare sector by improving data security. At DMEA, Europe’s leading event for digital health, they will provide insights into the current state of cybersecurity research for the digital transformation in medicine at the Fraunhofer joint stand in Hall 2.2, Stand D109.

The ATHENE researchers present the current state of research in the MeDiTwin project - Interactive and secure access to medical data:
Accessing one’s own medical data still involves many hurdles for patients. Although the electronic patient record provides the basic framework for digital access, the user interfaces are too complex and cumbersome. ATHENE researchers from Fraunhofer IGD and SIT are working on secure and interactive technologies to provide a simple overview of one’s own data, to view this medical data visually and interactively, and to share required data with medical institutions in a targeted and traceable manner. The stand showcases these new interactive possibilities and explains the underlying data security approach.

Prof. Jörn Kohlhammer will speak in the session “Digital Patient Empowerment” on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, from 12:35 to 12:45 in Hub 1, Hall 1.2, on the interactive and secure use and sharing of medical data

More about the session.

Nico Brüggemann will be providing information at the BSI stand in Hall 6.2 (Stand: B-110) on the findings of the SIKIS project - Security Properties of Hospital Information Systems. Information about the project: https://www.sit.fraunhofer.de/de/sikis/.
