The Hannover Messe is the world’s largest and most important industrial trade fair and is regarded as the leading inter­national trade fair for industrial technology. It covers various sectors such as automation, digitalisation, energy technologies and industrial production, and regularly attracts thousands of exhibitors and trade visitors from all over the world. ATHENE researchers will be giving talks on their research at this year’s Hannover Messe.

In his presentation ‘Cyber Resilience Act – New Requirements for Manufacturers of Connected Products’, Dr Steven Arzt will provide guidance on how companies can prepare for the new regulations in the most effective and timely manner. The countdown is on: by 2027, all manufacturers and distributors of products with digital elements must comply with the new requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Many companies are uncertain and unable to assess the challenges they will face when implementing the CRA.

Other panellists include Mirko Ross (asvin) and Prof. Dr Kai-Oliver Detken (founder of DECOIT). The panel will be moderated by Oliver Küch, PR & Marketing | Innovation Manager at ATHENE | Fraunhofer SIT.

In his presentation ‘The Home Power Plant as a Target – Solutions for Protecting Private Mini-Power Plants’, Dr Thorsten Henkel discusses the growing cyber security threat to private home power plants (HomePP) arising from the energy transition, and presents solutions from the HomePPSec project that focus on intelligent monitoring and the detection of malicious activity. The aim is to protect both households and the entire electricity grid from the potential consequences of cyberattacks on the networked components of decentralised power generation.
