ATHENE researcher defends her doctoral thesis

In the team of ATHENE Prof. Christian Reuter at the TU Darmstadt, Katrin Hartwig successfully completed her doctorate. Her’s thesis Navigating Misinformation: User-Centered Design and Evaluation of Indicator-Based Digital Interventions focuses on user-centred digital misinformation interventions, such as smartphone apps and browser plug-ins, to help users manage misinformation in various forms.

ATHENE scientist Prof. Iryna Gurevych receives prestigious ‘Milner Award’ from the Royal Society

The first female scientist in Germany and the first female university professor to receive the prestigious ‘Milner Award’ from the British Royal Society is Prof Iryna Gurevych from TU Darmstadt. She is being honoured for her significant contributions to automatic language processing and artificial intelligence, which ‘combine a deep understanding of human language and cognitive abilities with the latest paradigms of machine learning’, as the world's oldest independent scientific academy announced in London.

Federal Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger visits ATHENE

As part of her summer tour this year, Federal Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger visited ATHENE. Our researchers presented their findings in the areas of network and software security, disinformation and IT law. The minister also visited the ATHENE Cyber Range, a defence training course for IT employees that combines the advantages of a realistic simulation platform with best practices and updates on cyber innovations.
