CAST Workshop: AI and IT Security

May 28, 2026, 10:00 am – 05:00 pm

Artificial intelligence (AI) and IT security are two sides of the same coin. AI-powered systems help to detect and thwart cyberattacks more quickly. However, attackers are also increasingly using AI to exploit security vulnerabilities in a targeted manner.
The CAST workshop, 'AI and IT Security', examines current developments, regulatory requirements and practical solutions throughout the entire AI lifecycle. The focus is on securely and resiliently deploying modern AI systems, new threat scenarios and the requirements of the EU AI Regulation. The programme includes presentations on agent-based AI, model strategies, risk management, the effective operation of AI solutions and open-source analysis. It will also highlight ways in which companies can integrate AI systems into their security architectures securely and compliantly.

Prof. Dr. Martin Steinebach, coordinator of the ATHENE research areas REVISE and SenPAI, as well as head of the Media Security and IT Forensics department at Fraunhofer SIT, will moderate the event. ATHENE researcher Magdalena Wache will give a presentation on the topic 'Making AI visible: the labelling requirement of the EU AI Regulation'.
The event is recognised as continuing education for T.I.S.P. recertification. The deadline to register and receive the early bird discount is 18 May 2026; after this date, the standard registration fee will apply.
